Cherkini: The special has committed humanitarian violations against Thaci with refusing to call on father

Lawyer Artan Cerkini has spoken of the refusal the Special Court has asked former President Hashim Thaci to visit his ailing father.

Cerkini said there was no reason for Thaci to refuse the request for a visit, since, according to him, on twice that request for humanitarian visits has been approved, Thaci has respected all of the court's restrictions.

“Thaci has precisely respected all those restrictions imposed on the court's decision, during humanitarian visits to Kosovo, and in my opinion it is totally unacceptable that permission is denied to visit the ailing father, take into account the state of health and the age of Thaci's father”.

There is therefore no reason to reject Thaci's request for a visit. I believe Thaci's defense used legal means under the current legal framework of Specialised Chambers. Let us not forget that there is also a ombudsman, who can address all claims of human rights violations”, Cerkini said in Klan Kosova.

Furthermore, Cerkini said she thinks that with the refusal of a request to visit his ailing father, the Special has violated humanitarian rights to Thaci.

I believe that Thaci, through his defense, has raised this issue to the ombudsman's office, as the violation is a violation of a humanitarian right and expect the response of that” mechanism.

“I think humanitarian right to Thaci has been violated, as on the two allowed visits Thaci has allowed as humanitarian visits, he has not violated any point of restriction”, he said.
