The official shipment, with a prayer service from Bishop Polycarp of Belogradcik and St George icons, took place at the central square in Haskova in the presence of chief of defence, Admiral Emil Eftimov, senior military personnel and local authorities' representatives.
The Bulgarian Army will be part of the Regional-Western Command (RC-W) in the peacekeeping mission of NATO forces in Kosovo, KFOR reports.
The 100-strong formation will have four Mercedes vehicles and 13 Ford Ranger four-fielders.
In preparation for the mission, a two-day exercise was held at the 12th and February 13th in an urban environment.
“I am satisfied with preparing the container. Participants won a “assessment ready for fighting” and received the highest marks in all rating criteria,” said Admiral Eftimov, adding that the rise in salaries in the armed forces was producing results in motivation.
Asked about a possible Bulgarian participation in a future European forces peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, Eftimov said he agrees with the defence minister.
The defence chief noted that the ministry had done no planning or analysis, “which does not mean that we are not following processes within NATO and negotiations”. / BTA
