Look for a kiwi that's a little softer

Nutritionist Samina Callo says that a mature kiwi should be a little softer when crushed, like a peach or mature avocado. So it should not be rocklike or soft.

Just be careful not to press it too hard. To control maturity, easy pressure is sufficient to determine whether it is ready to eat.

Look for kivi with a nice, sweet smell.

Nutritionist and spokeswoman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietology, Theresa Gentile, says that mature kivi will have a mild and sweet aroma.

He also notes that a sour smell shows that the kiwi is broken, so avoid buying or eating a chivi that smells sour or fermented. If there is no wind at all, it may take more time to mature.

Look for a little rough and a little hard.

According to Callo, one of the fastest ways to understand whether a kiwi has crossed ideal maturity is to check its skin, which should be a little bit rough and strong, Telegrafi reports, the Periscope broadcast.

“A fresh kivi must have a slightly rough skin, with scales and uniform brown. If you notice deep pits, large spots, or areas that seem to wither or sink, it is possible to be too mature”, Callo said.
