An innovative asthma pump has shown that it reduces its attacks on children by 45%, marking a major step forward in the pediatric treatment of this disease.
This 2nd pump in-1 gave better results than Salbutamoli, the most currently used drug, in a major study in New Zealand with 360 children aged 550.
Besides significantly reducing the frequency of asthma crises, the device did not show growing negative effects, lung function, or general control of asthma, key elements for child treatment.
Published in The Lancet, the study can change the world's treatment guidelines, linking pediatric care with that for adults, where the Budesonid-formotrol pump is already widely recommended.
With some 113 million children in the world suffering from asthma, this simpler and more effective approach offers a transformational opportunity to reduce emergency visits and improve the quality of life./Periscopi/
