Some dentistry experts say brushing is not always good twice a day.
Praveen Sharma, from the school of dentistry at the University of Birmingham, says that half the adults in the United Kingdom will have gum disease as a result of this phenomenon.
Besides regular visits to the dentist, these are four things that many of us are currently making mistakes, which if we change them can improve the health of our teeth, according to experts:
Tooth brushing is once better than twice soon
It's one of the great dental commandments: brushing teeth twice a day and that's what NHS recommends.
But Dr. Sharma says the real key is quality, not quantity.
If you can find time, then yes, twice a day,” he says. “But it's better to do it once a day well than twice quickly”.
Wash your teeth before breakfast, not after him
Many people brush their teeth right after meals, but this may not do your enamel any favors.
Don't rub it after brushing your teeth
If you have spit, wash after every bath, you may need to reconsider the last step.
“Spit it out, but don't rinse it”, cautions Sharma. A mouthwash removes the fluor focused on the pasted teeth.
Expensive dental pasta is no better
According to Sharma, it does not matter which brand you choose as long as it contains a key ingredient.
As long as your teeth have fluids, it doesn't make much difference”, he says, adding that he tries to buy whatever is cheaper or available.
Fluor helps protect the enamel and prevent decay, which is what really matters./Periscopi/
