The Syrian top diplomat said the recognition took place under the auspices of Saudi Arabia and with Turkey's support.
“Under the auspices of Saudi Arabia and with Turkey's support, the Syrian Arab Republic announced recognition of the Republic of Kosovo as an independent state, reaffirming respect for the sovereignty and right of people for self-rule”, it has said.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti and opposition leaders have responded to this recognition.
