The decision was made on October 10, 2025 by the chairman of the court, Charles Smith III. According to the court's reasoning, although there is no evidence that Thaci would escape in case of release, the court has been convinced that he could prevent judicial proceedings or influence witnesses who have testified or may testify in the future.
The court has stressed that no other alternative measures “will be able to ease risks related to Thaci's possible release, assessing that detention remains the necessary and reasonable “for at least two months.
Meanwhile, the court process has entered the phase of presenting evidence from the defence, which was launched on September 15th. Several international figures, including former US Secretary of State James Rubin, former legal adviser to the Albanian delegation in Rambouillet, Paul Williams, and former political adviser to NATO's top commander, John Stewart Duncan.
Under the DPS plan, the completion of the defence evidence presentation is scheduled for November 14th 2025, while final parliaments and statements on the impact of alleged crimes are expected to be handed over by December 22nd 2025. /Periscopi/
