Andrey Bezrukov, former colonel of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), who once acted in secrecy in the United States, urged Putin to cancel plans for the visit to Budapest, calling it a “operation absolutely traitor”.
“I have many, many serious concerns about Budapest”, Bezrukov said during a show on Russian state television, where he warned that the visit could be used by Britain for an assassination on the Kremlin.
Bezrukov, whose identity was discovered in 2010 during an FBI operation that led to the arrest of Russian agent Anna Chapman, is currently a professor at Moscow's State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and adviser to the state oil company Rosneft.
According to British media, he stated that British <x0mentality is built on the idea that if Putin doesn't exist, then there is no problem”, adding that the “ele in London is losing its influence and may require a fatal unjustly response to Russia”.
Bezrukov suggested that any meeting between Putin and US President Donald Trump be held at a neutral location such as the United Arab Emirates, “to avoid the risk”.
However, he offered no concrete evidence of his claims. /Periscope/
