Two Ukrainian journalists have been killed in a Russian fearful attack and a colleague east of Ukraine, an attack that according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said was part of the “intentional attacks on journalists.
Freedom Media, a state-funded Ukrainian media organisation, said their team was hit by a Russian Lancet-type threat while in their car at a gas station in Kramatorsk, east of Ukraine.
This media, which publishes Russian-language news, said that journalists killed were Olena Gramova, 43-year-old from the Donjeck region and Yevgen Karmazin, 33 from Kramatorscu. Meanwhile, journalist Alexander Kolychev has been sent to the hospital for treatment.
“These are not accidents or mistakes, but a Russian intentional strategy to silence all independent voices reporting Russia's war crimes in Ukraine”, Zelensky wrote on social networks.
Thursday's attack took place after a Russian state media correspondent was killed in a Ukrainian-fear attack in the part of the region of Zaporije, occupied by Moscow.
Earlier this month, French photo reporter Anthony Lallian was killed during reporting near the front line in the Donjeck region.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, some journalists have been killed while covering the war, although the exact number of victims changes depending on monitoring organisations.
Reporters Without Borders said Lalican was the 14th journalist killed by the Russian Army, while U n NESTO reported that he was at least the 23rd media employee who was killed during war coverage on both sides of the front. / REL/
