The number of those killed during a bloody police operation against the Commando Vermelho criminal gang in Rio de Janeiro reached at least 132 people. This was announced by Rio de Janeiro's State Attorney's Office. According to Reuters news agency, Rio de Janeiro Federal Police reported 119 deaths after hours of fighting in Alemão and Penha favelas. State government Rio de Janeiro initially confirmed 64 dead, including four police officers. Commando Vermelho engaged in drug trafficking
