Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi has reacted to Kosovo's formal recognition by Syria, naming it an important step for strengthening the country's citizenship and international position. In a statement to the media, Krasniqi has stressed that Syria brings to 120 the number of states that have recognised Kosovo and has thanked all international friends and partners who have stayed close to the country during this process.
“Any new recognition is a step towards strengthening Kosovo's citizenship, integration and reconstruction into the international arena. Kosovo needs more friendship, more diplomacy and more self-confidence,” has declared Krasniqi. He has added that the insulating vision must end, and the country must return an active foreign policy, co-operative and dignified, to a full alliance with strategic partners.

Syria has recognised the independence of our country, bringing the number of international recognitions to 120.
Gratitude for our friends who continue to stay close to Kosovo and for their role in the process.
Any new recognition is a step towards strengthening Kosovo's citizenship, integration and recovery in the international arena.
Kosovo needs more friendship, more diplomacy and more confidence in itself. The insulting vision must end, and our country must return to active, cooperative and dignified foreign policy, into full alliance with our strategic partners.
