Critical of MP Zemaj's move, the Kosovo Institute for Justice says, takes into account the high position it holds.
“Politicians should be an example of tolerance and understanding even in cases where they are subject to offenses or physical attacks as happened to the Zemaj MP's case. Politicians and anyone exercising public functions in public interest should avoid situations of physical confrontation or deignive language debates with citizens” -Ehat Miftaraj, executive director of the Kosovo Institute for Justice.
While criticising the party that allegedly brought this spirit of discurs to the fore, Miftaraj does not even spare the Democratic League, RTV Dukagojini reports, Periscopi broadcasts.
The fact is that as a result of politicians and political parties with a particular emphasis on LVV making in polarising society and building culture where everyone exercising public office is corrupt or working against state interests, is bringing about situations where citizens living in Kosovo or abroad being inspired by this discurs are taking the right to insult, insult, threaten anyone who has a critical opinion of government” - Ehat Miftaraj é executive director of the Kosovo Institute for Justice.
Shortly after the incident, MP Zemaj sought public forgiveness, stressing that his reaction was in effect and that it did not represent his personal beliefs, nor did they as LDK deputy and member.
In support of Zemaj came his party, praising it as an attack on the MP's action, and saying it constitutes direct violation of institutional dignity.
Zemaj's apology has been welcomed by Miftaraj, who says such a thing should be done by the LDK.
