Police prevent merchandise smuggling in Elez Khan

Kosovo Police, meanwhile patrol units of the Regional Border Directorate East from Elez's Police Station for Border Supervisor, have carried out an operational action that has resulted in the prevention of a cargo smuggling case in the Elez Khan border area.

Last night around 7:00 p.m., the police unit noticed a nation-type vehicle without registration plates, which had entered from Northern Macedonia to Kosovo using illegal routes.

Despite the police's attempt to stop the vehicle, the latter has not stopped and left the street, ending in a ditch. Two suspected persons in the vehicle have abandoned him and have fled to northern Macedonia.

During vehicle control, police have found a considerable amount of goods allegedly smuggled, including men and women's shoes of various brands, labour tools and safes and different clothing.

By order of the competent prosecutor, the vehicle and goods found have been confiscated and sent to Elez's Police Station for Border Oversight, Elez's Hani, while surrendering Kosovo Customs for further legal procedures.

Kosovo police remain committed to preventing and combating all illegal activities, with the goal of maintaining Kosovo's order, security and border integrity, in close co-operation with other law enforcement agencies./Periscopi/
