The 6.1 magnitude quake that occurred at 10:48 p.m. on Monday evening in Sındırgı district of Balıkissir caused great destruction.
According to AFAD data, the earthquake, which took place at a depth of approximately 5,9 km, also felt in surrounding provinces.
With the first morning dawn, the effects of the earthquake became evident, Turkish media write.
In the perceived quake in the center of the district and surrounding provinces, three buildings were completely destroyed and many other buildings were severely damaged.
It was determined that the earthquake, which was felt in many provinces in the areas of Marmara and Aegean, including Balıkesir, Izmir, Bursa, Istanbul, Tekirdağ, Kocael and Sarkaya took place at a depth of 5,99km.
