The Northeast Group survey, which surveyed 1,000 people and was published in Le Figaro, shows that the assessment of Macro is only 11%.
Holland reached the same percentage in late 2016, shortly before announcing that he would not seek a second term as president. It's the lowest percentage since the early 1970s, when monthly polls began, Politico reports.
Other pollsters have reached similar conclusions about the Macron fall, especially after the president's extremely unpopular decision to raise retirement age and the months after the European elections in May 2024.
An Ipsos poll released in October gave Macron an assessment of 19%, down from a record 13% for Holland since 2014. In addition, a survey published by Odoxa found that only 20% of respondents consider Macro a good <x0 president”.
A former Macron adviser told Politico, speaking anonymously that “Macron is constantly engaged in polls, he would have to be blind or deaf not to realize he is unpopular”. He says the president “does not understand the consequences that he considers necessary in the state of the country”.
On the other hand, Macro is not the only European leader who “exhumations” in polls: Keir Starmer in Britain is slightly below 20% and Friedrich Merz in Germany now fluctuates to 25%. /Periscope/
