The Democratic League of Kosovo strongly condemns the unacceptable attack occurring today during a public interview, where LDK deputy Mr. Anamend Zemaj, not only has she been offended and provoked blindly, but she has also faced physical assault on him. This act is unacceptable and constitutes direct violation of the personal security of a elected representative of the people and the LDK and the very integrity of the country's democratic institutions.
The attacks, whether verbal or physical, on representatives of the people and LDK officials constitute direct violation of the institutional and democratic dignity on which our state is built. Different thinking is the fundamental value of democracy, but its expression can never be passed on to insults or violence.
The Democratic League of Kosovo expresses full solidarity with MP Armend Zemaj and invites rule bodies and law to explain the circumstances of the attack responsibly.
For the LDK, respect for their institutions and representatives is respect for the state itself and towards democratic order. The culture of debate, respect and dignity should prevail in public life, as a guarantee of social peace and democratic functioning of our society.
