The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has reacted after the Kurti Government's decisions on increasing pensions, additions for children and the promise of the 13th salary, calling the budget approval for 2026 “an unprecedented political and institutional act”.
“This is an act of a government without mandate and legitimacy, a desperate attempt at vote buying and manipulation of the election process just a week before the runoff, and a few weeks before early parliamentary elections,” is said in the LDK communiqué.
According to the party, “in the Government's object, a group of MPs who also behave as executives, contrary to the Constitution and the Supreme Court's judgments, have adopted a worthless document”, naming this as “exposé of state competencies and flagrant misuse of the public budget for close party interests. ”
The LDK emphasises that the new <x0-budget is the most important financial document of the state and should be drafted and approved by a new, legitimate government and derived from the will of citizens, not by a outgoing government that has lost popular support and institutional authority. ”
“No euro budget can be converted into a tool for vote buying, no financial plan can serve as a shield for government failures,” has further highlighted the LDK, adding that these actions “constitute abuse of power and instrumentisation of state institutions for electoral purposes. ”/Periscopi/
