KSF slips north

Several Kosovo Security Force vehicles (FSK) have wrongly entered the territory of North Mitrovica during Thursday, where they have been staying for several minutes, Kosovo Deputy Director of Police for the Northern Region Veton Elshami has announced.

According to Serbian media reports and videos that were circulated in Telegram, KSF vehicles entered northern Mitrovica in the morning hours.

Eyewitnesses said about “CoSSev” The vehicles stayed there for about ten minutes. There were almost ten vehicles, including some Hummer and three to four trucks. Initially, citizens thought it was KFOR.

And Kosovo Police Deputy Director for the North Veton Elshani confirmed that the vehicles were KSF. He added that they spent about five minutes at a gas station, where police have seen and asked about the situation. According to Elshan, KSF members responded that they had missed their location and thought they were in South Mitrovica.

Elshani also stressed that KSF members had no weapons.

The KSF's debut in the country's north is possible only with the preliminary consent of NATO's peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR, based on its 2013 pledge by the Kosovo government towards NATO. This commitment, given through a letter by former Prime Minister Hashim Thaci to then NATO Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen, remains in force today, despite changes to the KSF's mandate.
