The Kosovo Institute for Democracy has reacted after the failure of the government cabinet's proposed vote today by Albin Kurti, the chairman of the VV) party that came first in the February 9th elections.
“More than six months from the Kosovo Parliament's constitutional session, failure to form Government represents disappointing development after this lingering institutional crisis. This result is a direct consequence of the lack of political dialogue and failure to reach agreements that would enable normal functioning of the country's institutions. ”
KDI has said the most optimistic solution is early elections.
“under these circumstances, early parliamentary elections represent the most stable and reliable option to end this crisis and restore citizens the opportunity to determine the country's political direction. ”
KDI adds that if not after the elections, functional institutions are organised if political will and compromise is lacking.
“Anyway, KDI recalls that even elections cannot guarantee functional institutions if the will for political consensus and institutional compromise is lacking after them. For this reason, it is imperative that political forces reflect on the responsibility they bear for the country's stability and contribute to restoring institutional normality, especially in view of important institutional decision-making processes that await the country in the coming months. ”
