“Hope dies last” No.

The chairman of the Alternative and coalition partner with Vetevendosje, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, has stated that during the remaining days of the constitutional deadline, there is the possibility that some MPs will change their stance and allow the forming of Kurti Government, stressing that some MPs could no longer be in the Assembly. Kusari-Lila has estimated that in the absence of political reflection, Kosovo is heading towards new parliamentary elections.

“I believe the only change may be that if there is the will of MPs appointed to vote the government and the mandate, in this case Prime Minister Albin Kurti can ensure he has 61 votes and another session is called within the constitutional deadline. This is the only form, but I am convinced that if there is no change in access or position, elections, as you can see, are going towards that direction”, Kusari-Lila said.

According to her, although there is little hope, MPs still have room for reflection.

I believe that within this 24 hours MPs have had the chance, if they have the following days and hours space to reflect. The election process is the electoral process and we naturally prepare, even earlier we have known that the elections, as I have publicly stated, are the only sustainable solution considering other processes, the election of the president. The only way for a government to have a shorter term has been to vote or accept the proposed Kurti Government yesterday in order to overcome this blockade with the issue of budget and international agreements”, she stressed for Online Economics.

Kusari-Lila has stressed that some MPs should understand that it may be the last time they are part of the Parliament.

I don't particularly have hope, but if they have reflections, let them evaluate it. There are MPs, unfortunately, as I have told you even at the hearing some who have seen the Parliament for this short period of time or have been given this mandate and will be the shortest term ever in Kosovo for MPs who have been elected several for the first perhaps last time. Some do not know if they will have the opportunity to be resolved again. It has been an opportunity to overcome a stalemate created by other consequences for citizens and perhaps with reflection and constructiveness for MPs. There will be something like that I don't know, but there's still nine days left for anyone who could have 61 numbers for Kurt and VV”, she said.

Regarding further steps, she said everything remains in the hands of the president.

It's at the discretion of the president, which means it's in the discretion of the president who can in consultation with political parties ask if anyone is willing to bring 61 numbers of MPs, but always remains its discretion,”.

Speaking of the political deadlock in the Assembly, Kusari-Lila said the blockade has started since voting for Prime Minister Albulen Haxhiu to the inability to secure the majority for the government.

When this impasse started in relation to the voting process for the prime minister's candidate, Mrs. Haxhiu, then the numerous continuation of the session to the part of the commission's secret vote, as far as changing candidates for Chief Parliamentary, it was seen that we failed to have a minimal majority needed for the vote of the Parliament's leadership candidates or even for the <x1 government, she said.

She added that even despite efforts to deal with deputies from the Initiative and representatives of non-party communities, the necessary majority was not achieved.

“More has been the perception that the moment the Parliament is constitutionalised will be the votes for the government, because an agreement can be reached, but without success until the government's voting session is reached. Unfortunately, we have had a long time to lose with the demands of the Constitutional Court and the measures twice imposed by the Court, without need. In a way, it has prolonged this process that could have been completed much faster”, she stressed.

Kusari-Lila added that in the absence of compromise, new elections are inevitable.

“Since the seventh or eighth session, when I saw the lack of will and willingness to talk, I said that in this political spirit, elections are the only solution. It is now seen that we are safely entering extraordinary new parliamentary elections”, she said.

She said that even though the opposition has tried to present Vetevendosje as responsibility, the deadlock is due to the lack of will for dialogue by other parties.

I believe we will get a better result than the February 9th elections. It is what we have repeatedly tried to show both constructiveness and cooperation during this period, namely that we've often had situations where the opposition parties haven't even participated in the voting process, where three times they've sent subjects to the Constitutional Court, where all this delay, in terms of trying to fatten us up or tow it, is said to be the responsibility of the VV Parliamentary Group, probably in these circumstances has been the smallest part of responsibility, as a result of these lack of discussions, even if the refusal to sit at the table and discuss the situation, said.

According to her, elections are currently inevitable and are expected to be held during December.

“Although we have repeatedly told you to challenge us, to enter the constitutional deadlines, much easier would be to make it earlier (hinder in early parliamentary elections). Much easier it would be to manage in terms of both the country and the process, both the weather and the campaign, even if the entire process did not reach the majority, happened earlier, and the next extraordinary elections were made earlier. But it was their approach that has been calculated even with the outcome of local, inevitable elections, and have already come to this point where it can no longer be postponed, and now we realized that in December the year will be closed, and the election processes opened for 2025”, she said”, finished Kusari-Lila.

At the extraordinary Kosovo Assembly session on 26 October, Albin Kurti, incumbent and mandated prime minister to form the new Government, failed to secure the 61 votes needed to launch a new power mandate. It received 56 votes “for”, 52 against and 4 abstentions.

Now it is up to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani to decide on further steps, while the major opposition parties, The PDK and LDK have stated they will not support Kurti and have called for holding new elections as a solution to political stability in the country.
