Ukrainian President Wolfymyr Zelensky confirmed this on Facebook.
A historic step has now been taken a deal with Sweden for Gripen fighter planes, and this is a good choice. We are counting on 150 for Ukraine, and the first are expected to arrive next year”, Zelensky stressed, reports Telegraph, broadcast Periscope.
He noted that combat planes Gripen are part of Ukraine's broader security guarantees.
There has never been an agreement before on the combat aviation of this scale for Ukraine. This is a historic achievement. We are working to fully realise this”, Zelensky said.
As reported, Zelensky and Swedish Prime Minister Wolf Cristersson signed a letter of intent for co-operation in developing air capabilities.
After the signing, Zelensky said the document would open the possibility for the transfer of Gripen aircraft. /Periscope/
