Today's extraordinary session of the election of the new Kosovo government, scheduled for 10:00 a.m., began with 68 minutes late.
The prime minister's mandate, Albin Kurti, arrived in the hall after more than an hour of delay, where the government cabinet composition was expected to be proposed.
In his speech to MPs, Kurti called on them to vote in the interest of the people and to support the formation of the Government.
However, after presenting the list of ministers, Government “Kurti 3” received only 56 votes for, thus failing to secure the necessary majority for approval.
That result was expected, as the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo had earlier declared their stand against co-operation or coalition with the Vetevendosje Movement.
The same attitudes remained steadfast today.
After failing to form the government, it is now expected that President Vjosa Osmani will call political parties for consultative meetings within the constitutional and legal deadline.
In current circumstances, after eight months of political blockade, holding new parliamentary elections seems inevitable. /Periscopi/
