Germany's embassy in Kosovo has indicated that this summit comes after a year of intensive preparation and aims to bring new <x0-minutemium, tangible results and a common vision for the future of the Western Balkans in Europe. ”
The embassy's announcement says that the Berlin Process, launched by Germany in 2014, is aimed at supporting aspirations for membership in the European Union of six Western Balkan states, while simultaneously strengthening co-operation between them.
This process brings tangible improvements to the lives of immediate impact citizens, such as the removal of roaming tariffs or mobile agreements that enable cross-border travel and mutual recognition of professional and academic qualifications,” is said in communiqués.
The embassy stresses that reforms promoted through the Berlin Process are essential for the road to the EU, but not as a goal in itself.
“They are a tool to strengthen rule of law, democracy and anti-corruption efforts, bringing direct benefits to society,” is further said.
According to the German Embassy, a strong European Union is vital for the stability and prosperity of the continent.
“A safe Western Balkans means a safe Europe. Close co-operation in these areas strengthens not only each country in the region but also the common interests of the EU and the United Kingdom,”, the announcement concludes.

London calls!
Today is the Berlin Process Leaders Summit in London! After a year of intensive preparation, counting back has begun for new momentum, tangible results and a common vision for the future of the Western Balkans in Europe. Initiated by Germany in 2014, the Berlin Process has a clear purpose: to support the aspirations for membership in the European Union of six Western Balkan states, while at the same time promoting co-operation between them. This process brings tangible improvements in the lives of people with immediate impact, such as removing roaming tariffs or mobile arrangements that enable cross-border travel and mutual recognition of professional and academic qualifications. The Berlin process promotes fundamental reforms for EU membership, not as a goal in itself, but as a means to strengthen rule of law, democracy and anti-corruption efforts, bringing direct benefits to society. A strong EU is vital: stability and co-operation in the Western Balkans are irreplaceable for security and well-being in Europe. Our attention today is in London, where leaders of Western Balkan governments meet for this year's closing event of the Berlin Process Summit. Close co-operation in these areas not only strengthens each country in the region but also serves the common interests of the European Union and the United Kingdom. A secure Western Balkans means a safe Europe.
