The Egyptian Committee in Gaza sent 12 heavy machinery units to the region via the Karam Abu Salem border. Trucks with humanitarian aid have also been introduced, while the country is suffering a steady lack of food, water and medical supplies.
After two years of war, about 90 percent of the civilian infrastructure has been destroyed. According to the United Nations Organization, Gaza's reconstruction is estimated to cost some $70 billion.
The truce agreement in Gaza was reached between Israel and Hamas in early October, given a plan presented by US President Donald Trump.
The first phase included the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The reconstruction of Gaza and the creation of a new government mechanism, without Hamas, are also envisioned.
Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed nearly 68 thousand Palestinians in Gaza, most of them women and children. /Periscope/
