On October 22, 2025, the Paris Prosecutor's Office was informed by prison director La Santé of a video circulated in social media, clearly filmed by a prisoner, in which he made threats after Nicolas Sarcozy's arrival at the facility,” said in the prosecutor's statement, sent to Reuters.
Three prisoners have been questioned as part of the investigation, while two mobile phones have been seized during a prison raid.
Sarkozy, who led France from 2007 to 2012, on Tuesday began serving a five-year sentence for plotting to raise funds for his campaign from Libya.
The former president has been appointed to two police officers armed for protection during prison time -- a move that has prompted criticism from prison guards' unions./Periscopi/
