CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has said they are currently committed to completing the process of local elections, but remain committed to meeting constitutional obligations if there will be a new election process this year.
“Exactly, the Central Election Commission is committed to completing the process of local elections and preparations for the second round of mayoral elections. As we have said every time, the Central Election Commission remains committed to meeting its constitutional and legal obligations, at any moment when an election process is officially announced”, Elesi said.
According to Elez, organising a new election process within such a short period presents a challenge for the CEC and staff.
The organisation of a new election process within a short period certainly poses a challenge for the CEC and its staff, especially for the fact that we are still in the active phase of local election management. But the CEC, as always, will act in line with its legal mandate and will take all necessary actions if it is decided to hold new elections”, Elesi said. /EO/
