About eight cases have been reported as incidents during today's election process, but have not resulted in elements of the criminal act, says National Election Co-ordinator, Prosecutor Laura Pula. It has confirmed that no person has been arrested for misuse of votes in this local election until noon.

The prosecutor from the State Prosecutor's Office says there are 100 prosecutors and support staff distributed in all municipalities to protect the free vote of citizens.

The prosecutor's “Role in the election, not only on these but starting since 2013, given the memorandum of co-operation we have with all relevant bodies and institutions is to protect the free vote of citizens. This has shown success over the years even in each election. I say successful because if we make a comparison with elections that have been almost the bad elections in the Republic of Kosovo, there is a drastic change in the number of people who have manipulated the citizen vote. This is thanks to this co-operation and the role of the prosecutor who has already made his work at the polls almost routine. In these elections, we have about 100 prosecutors engaged along with support staff distributed to all municipalities in the Republic of Kosovo, and the goal is to effectively and actively act on preventing perpetrators of criminal acts or dealing with voting rights, or manipulators and frauds in any kind of”, she claims.

So far, Pula says no person has been detained for criminal acts related to misuse of the vote.

“Based on the number of voters and reporting cases, we can say freely that we have no person forbidden so far for criminal work dealing with voting rights or by the special chapter that includes 11 criminal acts... if one vote is photographed and shown and told to someone who might be for different purposes, whether they can row or profit materially, economic situation then falls down to the domain of the criminal act. Every person who takes a picture of the vote will be banned and will verify what it has photographed. It's true that we've had reports of three cases, but they've been interviewed and released because they haven't proven there's been a certain” claim, Pula adds to Kosovas.

The prosecutor says up to eight cases have been reported as incidents, but no one has proved to have elements of criminal work.

There have been other, initiated, different cases which have not constituted criminal acts. I want to let you know another treatment of various incidents, that these incidents during election day can be divided into three categories, divided into the category of administrative offense, that have nothing to do with the State Attorney, that they can still be against criminal responsibility and they can still not be treated by police, and that the third if any element of criminal work is fulfilled by the 11 counts we have, then the prosecutor has the right to take adequate action for which he has standards of action along with the Kosovo Police and can also decide there to ban 7... There are cases reported after their incidents and then after their actual verification that we have failed to bring about criminal work today, and therefore we can't have access to a local vote.

During the day, Chief State Prosecutor Besim Kelmendi's task officer has visited the operational Chamber for monitoring the election process at the Office of State Prosecutor, where she was hosted by National Election Co-ordinator Laura Pula.
