“Mes components of the brigade that will stop rotations in Europe are mentioned as also the forces destined for Romania, located at the Mihail Kogalnikeanu” base, the Romanian Defence Ministry said.

The review of American forces is part of the new US administration priorities announced since February. The decision has also taken into account the fact that NATO has strengthened the presence and activity on the east side, which allows the United States to adjust their military position in the region”, the report said.
Also, the Romanian ministry stressed that the US <x0vestation concerns cutting the rotation in Europe of a brigade that had elements in several NATO states”.
Nearly 1,000 American soldiers will remain deployed on Romania's territory, contributing to preventing any threat and continuing to represent a guarantee of US commitment to regional security”, the defence dictatorship said.

Early in 2025, more than 1,700 American soldiers were deployed, mainly in Mihail Kogalnikeanu, Devessel, and Campia Turzii. Close to 1,400 are located at 57 Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base.
Defence Minister Ionut Mosteanu told Radio Free Europe in early October that in “Mihal Kogalnikeanu has close to 2,000 and a few American soldiers”.
We are awaiting the US National Defence Strategy, which will be presented soon. We'll see if they keep their presence and position on the east side of Europe... Romania is important to US”, Minister Mosteanu said. /REL/
