The investigations, conducted in recent days, included a 40-year-old Albanian, a 23-year-old Italian and three Swiss nationals, 37, 22 and 21, who live in the Leventina and Javier regions respectively.
All five people are suspected to be involved, in various qualities, in a drug trafficking operation that is said to have particularly affected the Sopracener area in Ticino. During the raids, approximately one hundred grams of cocaine and several thousand francs were found, believed to be illegal trafficking revenues.
The main charges against the suspects are heavy opposition, slight wrongdoing and violation of the Federal Law on Narcotics. The investigations were conducted in co-operation with the Tre Valley Police and stem in part from an operation that took place in the first half of October, which has already led to several arrests linked to the same criminal network, informs media Swiss.
The investigation is being co-ordinated by public prosecutors Veronica Lipara and Luca Losa. Authorities stress that, due to the ongoing investigation, no further information on the details of the investigation or specific roles of the persons involved will be published.
