CEC: In local elections a municipality vote cannot vote in the next municipality neither as fair nor conditional

Voters who cannot be in their municipality will not be able to vote in the municipality where they could be on Election Day on October 12th.

Even this will not be possible by voting on parole, as was the possibility in Kosovo's Parliament elections.

CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has clarified that this change is because in the elections for the Parliament, Kosovo is a single electoral zone, meanwhile in local elections each municipality is an electoral zone.

Contrary to the elections for the Assembly, where the whole Republic of Kosovo is a single electoral zone, in local elections each municipality represents a particular electoral zone. In the locations of each municipality, The CEC only sends papers to that municipality. So, a voter can only vote in the municipality where it is registered and not in any other municipality”, Elez explained to EO, broadcast Periscope.

According to him, a voter from a certain municipality cannot vote on bail in the next municipality.

Because a registered voter in one municipality cannot vote in another, nor is conditional voting possible from one municipality to another. The conditional vote is allowed only within the municipality where the voter is registered and enabled at the special Centre for Voting, which is set by the CEC. On 12 October, in each municipality it will open from a vote centre to enable conditional vote”, Elesi said.

According to the CEC, the election process will take place at 948 The polling centre, with a total of 2,625 seats, out of which 910 polling centres with 2,571 seats earmarked for regular voting, meanwhile, 38 polling centres were holding 54 seats for the conditional vote. /Periscope
