The KSF stresses that in August 2025, there is a decline in birth rates by about 6.4%, compared to July 2025.

According to Recent Data The World Bank's 2024 rankings Kosovo first in the world on the population contraction rate, with a decline of -9.7 percent, reports Telegrafi.

This result puts Kosovo at the top of the list of countries with the largest demographic decline at the global level -- a figure that experts describe as alarming to the future of the country's social and economic development.

While the world population has seen an average increase of 1 per cent, Kosovo is facing the opposite trend, mainly because of mass migration towards European countries, in search of better living opportunities and employment.

Despite efforts by institutions to curb citizens' departure and to promote population growth through subsidies and stimulating policies, data show the country is facing a deep demographic crisis.
