During the meeting, President Begaj praised the friendly and traditional relations between Albania and Vietnam, which date back to 75 years, naming them a solid basis for deepening bilateral co-operation in various areas.
In this context, the head of state stressed the importance of intensifying political contacts, as well as promoting economic co-operation and cultural exchange between the two countries.
President Begaj also seized the opportunity to raise the Kosovo issue, calling on Vietnamese authorities to review their position in terms of recognition of its independence and support for Kosovo's membership in international organisations.
“Kosovo is an irreversible reality in the Western Balkans,” President Begaj said, underlining that support for Kosovo's citizenship and international subjectivity would be a positive step towards peace and stability in the region.
