The World Bank says reconstruction can cost between $140 and $345 billion, but their best conservative “<x1 billion.
The World Bank estimates that infrastructure reconstruction will cost $82 billion (70 billion euros). It estimated the cost of damage to residential buildings at $75 billion (64 billion euros) and 59 billion euros (50 billion euros) for non-resident structures.
The Alepos province and the village of Damascus, where fierce battles took place, will require larger investments, according to the assessment.
“The challenges ahead are extraordinary, but the World Bank is willing to work alongside the Syrian people and the international community to support recovery and reconstruction”, World Bank Director for the Middle East Jean-Christophe Carret said in a statement.
