Forty-six people have lost their lives after several vehicles crashed on a main highway in Uganda, police say, the BBC reported.
Police cut the previous death toll of 63 people, saying they had wrongly involved unconscious victims and are now being treated.
The accident occurred when two buses traveling in opposite directions “met face-to-face” while trying to cross two other vehicles a truck and a car on Campala-Gulu highway at 00:15 local time (21:15 GMT), Uganda Police Force said.
One of the buses was diverted into an attempt to avoid a crash, but during this process it caused a “face-to-face crash” that led to a “consequential chain” in which other vehicles lost control and were overturned.
