Kosovo's Central Election Commission (KQZ) has certified the final voter list in and outside Kosovo on Saturday, and has announced that 2 million 75 thousand and 868 voters will be eligible for voting in the February 9th regular parliamentary elections.
According to CEC data, the number of citizens eligible to vote in the Kosovo polling is 1 million and 970 thousand and 944 voters, meanwhile, the number of citizens registered to vote outside Kosovo is 104 thousand and 924 voters.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi for the Rtv21.tv portal has clarified why the number of voters is greater than the number of residents.
He has said that voters' lists include Kosovo citizens with fair voting both at home and abroad, while only residents of the population have participated in the census.
Subsequent lists and population census should be viewed separately. The population census is involved only residents present in Kosovo at the time of the census, so it does not include citizens living abroad, while Kosovo citizens who live inside and abroad are justly involved in the voter list, Elez said.
According to the final results of the population census ( ReCos 2024, the number of residents in Kosovo registered is 1 million and 602 thousand and 515.
