Witness Hansjeorg Stromeyer, former judicial adviser of UNMIK, said Monday in The Hague that although it was no matter marking the incidents, he has seen such things during his mission to Kosovo.
He even related one occasion when he saw a Serbian couple leave, and later he saw it burn.
“Yes, but in the same disorder or sporadical way as reported. We moved by car to the Sun Hill in Pristina and on the left side saw it, which was common that day, a couple who took their belongings loaded them onto a car in which they had linen letters. We concluded that they were Serb couples leaving. After 20 minutes on our way back to a place where we had seen this couple burned. We stopped and talked to those people, the couple, and they told us that someone had put cocktails in that building and in cars, burning them up, and these were Serbs who wanted to leave”, he said.
He even said he was informed of personal threats to non-Albanians.
I don't know if there were any other things, but we were also informed of personal threats to persons who were non-Albanian”, Stromeyer said.
He said it was not his role to mark such incidents but since his position there were interactions and he had the opportunity to see these things. He also added that there were constant tensions.
On the other hand, Stromeyer said that from a meeting at the Hotel “Grand” there was an ambition for the establishment of the Kosovo Interim Government.
I can tell that Mr. Thaci was there and there were other people present in the hall. I don't remember exactly who it was, but I believe it was Mr. Selim too if I'm not mistaken. However, I am sure that Mr. Thaci has made the presentation of this ambition. Since that next moment, we were aware of the existence of this part's ambition or those individuals who were at least there for government creation or maybe even the KLA ambition to create an Interim Government that was different from the administrations we thought we could create under Resolution 1244. As for the reason why he was created, there was our impression that this was a movement to design from them and at their request and an administration that would be in their control. That was the impression”, he said.
The Witness denied that he knew the Interim Government was founded in co-operation with Ibrahim Rugova.
In addition, answering Thaci's lawyer's questions, Luka Misetiq, the witness denied that he has been aware that the Kosovo Interim Government was with US support.
As a result, lawyer Misethic confronted Stomeyer with earlier statements, where he had said the Kosovo Interim Government had been formed unilaterally. However, he said that at that time it was his impression.
In this hearing, Kadri Wessel's lawyer, Rodney Dixon, announced that they would not object to tomorrow's witness testifying via video connection. As a result, the chairman of the court, Charles Smith III, said they would issue orders to present the next witness through the video connection.
