The Senate approved on Saturday Kristi Noem's candidacy for the post of secretary of National Security by placing former South Dakota governor, at the helm of an agency that is essential for national security and American President Donald Trump's plans to stop illegal migration.
Noem was approved by 59 votes to 34 against.
On Friday the Senate approved Pete Hegseth's candidacy for the post of secretary of defence by a close vote of 51 to 50. Hegseth swore on Saturday.

Monday evening the Senate will vote for Scott Bessent's approval for the post of Secretary of Treasury.
Noem, an ally of President Trump, received 7 votes from the Democrats.
Republicans, who still had the votes needed to approve its candidacy, voiced confidence in its determination to lead issues related to border security and immigration.
In a post on social networks, Noem thanked President Trump for the “confidence he gave to serve as National Security Secretary”.
I'll work to make America safe again! He wrote.
The majority leader in the Senate, Republican John Thune, said on Friday that “establishing respect for rule of law is one of the top priorities of President Trump and Republicans. And this will require determined and dedicated leaders in the National Security Department”. / VoA
