The two largest opposition parties, DUI and the LSDM, have spoken of not signing the decree.
Of DUI, it is a co-ordinated attack on Albanian language and Albanian rights.
“The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) harshly condemns President Gordana Silanovska-Dukova's scandalous veto of the bilingual. It is an open attack on the Albanian language and an attempt to undermine the rights of Albanians in northern Macedonia”.
But this is not an isolated action, but a clearly coordinated strategy. Initially, the leader of Ficent, Afrem Gashi, came out with a statement to prepare the opinion against Albanian and create an alibi for this movement, and immediately after that, furious anti-Albanian nationalism was activated to deny and attack all Albanian. This is an aggression against Albanians where the V LEN is knowingly taking on the role of associate“. This is not just a blow to the language -- it is an attempt to bring the Albanians back -- to dismantle all of the hard earned rights. Government run n. ga VMRO- The DPMNE, with the support of the VLEN, is showing that there is no interest in coexistence, but I'm following a revanst, anti-Albanian and dangerous agenda”.
“DUI has a clear message: Albanian is not the currency for political shopping! It is an inevitable constitutional right, not a political instrument that this government can use according to its interests, we call on all Albanians, all citizens who believe in coexistence, academic world, civil society and all democratic forces instead of mobilizing and not allowing this shameful strategy to be realised. DUI won't stand back! We will use all political and legal mechanisms to stop this anti-Albanian madness. The president and this government must know one thing: Albanians won't let them hide! Our tongue is our dignity, identity and future and we will protect it at all costs!
Meanwhile, LSDM through a communiqué released by the media has demanded that the Government give up completely the amendments to the Law, which, according to them, are not constitutional and have been adopted in opposition to the Assembly Rule of”.
“We welcome the signing of the decree by the president of the state, Gordana Silanovska-Davidkova, by which this possibility opens, and ask the government to withdraw from its goals because of the controversial provisions it contains. Article 9 and Article 10 of the Bill for Change proposed by the Government means the introduction of bilingual licenses in the field of child protection. It is controversial that this segment is regulated by another law defining the use of languages, but also the Constitution of the state.”, said the LSDM response.
