Indictee Rexhep Mehmet has been convicted and sentenced to 3 years in prison for charging that official municipal quality has forged official documents.
Mehmeti, in the quality of the Civil State officer in the Pristina municipality, was charged with recording and providing ID documents to people who have failed to meet the criteria for handling them.
The verdict against Mehmet was announced Tuesday by the chairman of the court, Dandrim Arrini.
Under trial, the defendant was sentenced to 3 years in prison for “Falsification of the official document”, while cleared for “Takeback”.
The accused is obliged to pay judicial expenses and 100 euros for the judiciary and 50 euros for the victims' compensation programme.
Against this bias, disgruntled parties have a 30-day complaint in the Court of Appeals.
Otherwise, in the 24 charges handed down by the Constitutional Prosecutor in Pristina, defendant Mehmeti was charged with committing criminal acts “Falsification of the official document” from Article 427, paragraph 1 and “Bribe taking” from Article 421, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code.
According to the indictment, he was charged with having signed and supplied documents to people who have failed to meet the criteria for handling them.
Mehmeti in the quality of Civil State official was accused of continuing to abuse his official office, had introduced various persons into the system, initially registering them as minors and then changed and recorded as major persons.
In the indictment, the actions of defendant Mehmeti have reportedly occurred in opposition to the Interior Ministry minister's decision (MPB) in 2020. This decision stipulated that officials in the municipality branch had no right to register persons over the age of 18 for the first time, for which other officials were authorized.
Even according to the indictment, the MPB's decision determined that no one could receive the certificate without being present, having a document with photos or two witnesses. According to the indictments, most of these, over 100 cases, have not figured at all in the Amese book, and for some, there are video recordings in this book.
The indictment also states that in addition to the turn of the birth year, in some cases he is accused of enabling certain persons to change and steal their identity, recording them with names and other information.
We remember that the “Justice Vogue, on April 20, 2024, had published research with the title “24 indictment by nine prosecutors for the same criminal acts, as argues to the Prosecution”, where it showed how to former official Mehmeti apart from the two acts he was tried on the first scale, against him, 24 other acts would be filed for the same subject, which had been treated by nine prosecutors. The prosecution, although possible to bring these materials together, did not address the case as whole but distributed.
Research shows how prosecutors have filed charges depending on the criminal charges they have gone to the prosecutor. Some prosecutors have even filed up to three counts of the same actions, which the official is accused of continuing. /Justice Trust/
