The proposal for the EU's new envoy for dialogue will be considered at the level of ambassadors of member states on Tuesday, January 21st.
All procedures for the appointment of the new emissary should be completed by the end of this month, so that he can take office on February 1st, since Lajcak's mandate expires on January 31st.
Peter Sorensen from Denmark has greater diplomatic experience in European structures than in the state from which it comes.
Among other things, he has served as chief of the EU delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Northern Macedonia.
While in Kosovo the one between 2002 and 2006, Sérensen served as deputy chief of UNMIK's IV, as well as director of the European Office.
