This year's “ (01.01.2024 -13.12.2024), the Kosovo Correcting Service has accepted a total of 94 requests for forgiveness from convicted persons. These requests have been forwarded to the President's office for examination. To date, the date 30.12.24, Kosovo's Correcting Service has not accepted a decree for forgiveness by the President's Office of the Republic of Kosovo. Kosovo Correcting Service”.
And from the presidency, they say one case is under consideration.
“over 2024 have been accepted a hundred and five (105) pleas for forgiveness of convicted persons who are being considered by the Commission for Forgiveness. Eighty-nine (89) requests for forgiveness of convicted persons have been considered so far, while sixteen (16) of them are awaiting review by the Commission, following their completion with additional information. This year the Commission for Forgiveness has recommended forgiveness for a convict, and this recommendation is in the presidency's screening procedure. ”- Bekim Cupina, Media Councilman for Presidencys.
One who once headed one of the prisons in Kosovo says this move by the president remains unfortunate.
