Moldova's National Army has deployed the 22nd contingent of soldiers in the KFOR peacekeeping operation in Kosovo.
Today's official ceremony featured the headship of the National Army's Ministry of Defence and Staff, ambassadors, military attachors, and family members of officers, sergeants and contingent soldiers.
“We already have 11 years of presence in the KFOR mission, which proves that the Republic of Moldova is a reliable partner and that the National Army is effectively trained according to international standards, interoperable with soldiers of other armies. Your colleagues from previous contingents have passed the professional test before Mission Staff, and I am confident that you will meet expectations. Now is the time to show, by your actions, that you are ready to face tasks on an international area of operations such as KFOR”, Moldovan Defence Minister Anatolian Nosati said, Moldovan media “tv8” broadcast Klanosova.tv.
The task of NATO's Interconnection Office in the Republic of Moldova, Justin Suni, stressed that multinational interoperability is one of the components of the success of the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, and the Moldovan army has always been noted for their professionalism and dedication.
For six months, 41 soldiers, among whom seven engineers, a staff officer and a platoon of 33 pedestrians, will carry out security missions and guards of military targets and patrol the area of responsibility.
Moldovan soldiers will be part of the Regional-West Command and will be deployed at Camp Village Italy military base in Pec.
