European Union Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos will go to Montenegro in what he called the first “commission” in the Western Balkans.
She said she is going there to celebrate the big “steps that make Montenegro the most advanced country in EU accession negotiations.
I am traveling towards Montenegro on my first mission in the Western Balkans. I will stay here to celebrate Montenegro's major steps, which make it the most advanced country in accession negotiations and encourage Montenegrins to continue at this pace of”, Kos wrote at X today.
In addition to Montenegro, Kos will also go to Albania.
These visits she warned MPs at the European Parliament's Foreign Policy Commission in Brussels on Tuesday.
Montenegro has a vision of closing negotiations by 2026 and Albania until 2027. We're going to support them, but it takes a lot of hard work. The principle of the credit-based process should be valid for candidate countries as well as for EU member states. So, when candidates meet the criteria, then EU countries should enable walking ahead of“, Kos has said.
Meanwhile, for Kosovo, the one in Parliament said there would be no movement before the elections, but that soon after them it should be moved.

Because we cannot talk about the Western Balkan region unless we talk about dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina or sharing what Kosovo is doing and what Serbia” is doing, Kos had declared.
