The country's prime minister, Albin Kurti, has said today that Kosovo's electromagnetic system will stabilise, as well as reduce the cost of energy import.

At the conference organised by the Mine Years' Challenge Corporation ( MCA Kosova, in terms of pre-qualification procedures for the design and construction of the Great Energy Conservation Systems through Batteries, Kurti promised that security and reliability of the energy supply will increase for both households and businesses.

Kurti has said the “government finds it clear that building new capacities is not enough, but according to him, the country's executive is making sure to change the needed infrastructure to support new capacities in the field of energy”.

It's best to start the year with such success for the energy sector. For decades, Kosovo has faced difficulties. We need not only investment, but a vision that brings results that cannot be returned. We have set ambitious goals for ourselves, and we have established a vision of both vision and vision. We understand that building new capacities is not enough. We're making sure we change the necessary infrastructure to support the new capacities. We are officially opening the pre-qualification process for the construction of battery storage systems, which we will deploy to Ferzaj and Istog”, he said.

Prime Minister Kurti said the security and credibility of the power supply for both households and businesses will increase.

“125 megawatts of this system will operate under the power corporation and 45 other megawatts under COST, which will be used for network balance. They will have immediate and fair influence. First, we will stabilise the country's electromagnetic system and reduce the cost of energy import; secondly, increase the security and reliability of the energy supply for both households and businesses; and third, we will pave the way for further integration of energy from renewable sources such as wind, water and sun”, Kurti said.

Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli has stressed that the energy reserves that will be built through this programme will save Kosovo's electromagnetic system a more than 15m euros annually.

This event also has enormous significance, since the compact programme has been the first major decision as minister and as government in the energy sector. I am as convinced as never before that the decision was right and there is nothing better we can do about our electromagnetic system and our energy transition than changing these batteries. Energy reserves that will be built through this programme will save Kosovo's electromagnetic system a total of more than 15m euros a year, the minister has said.

Local Director Resident from the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Youth Jonbalaj, said the goal is to stabilise the power supply and reduce export dependence.

This energy storage system will be the first in the region to enable Kosovo to integrate renewable energy into the network, stabilise energy supply and reduce export dependence. This is not only about infrastructure, but also about supporting change that will provide the most stable energy in Kosovo”, Gjonbalaj said. /EO/
