The Israeli government and Hamas have agreed to an agreement that will stop fighting in Gaza and lead to the phased release of Palestinian hostages and prisoners, an informed source of talks told CNN.
Under the deal, which has not yet been officially announced, Hamas and militant Allied groups are expected to release 33 hostages captured by Israel during the October 7th 2023 attacks, while in return Israel will release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
Once confirmed, the agreement is expected to allow Palestinian civilians to return to northern Gaza and there will be a massive flow of humanitarian aid in the belt, where residents have long faced serious humanitarian conditions. /euronews
