He called for vaccines against this flu, citing that some 20,000 doses are still available.
Hoti said January is usually marked by an increase in cases with the flu.
“However, we are finding that we have a percentage of the increase in cases from week to week. This week is marked by a 15 - percent increase compared to last week's responses to the season. The important thing is for the situation to be monitored, citizens to be attentive, and the main message the Institute gives to citizens is to be vaccinated against seasonal flu”, he said at RTK.
Hoti added that the Health Ministry has provided 85 thousand doses of the vaccine against seasonal flu. He announced that the vaccine process was initiated in October 2024 and that some 65 thousand doses have been administered so far.
“The largest number of vaccinateds belong to the category of elderly, people with accompanying diseases, group of health professionals, pregnant women and children”, Hoti explained.
He called for vaccines against seasonal flu, citing that about 20,000 doses are still available to be used.
“Vaxin remains the most effective way to prevent the flu. Citizens should remember that the vaccine is given, not to treat the flu, but to prevent its appearance. The institute's suggestion is vaccine, because the flu will last several months and the vaccine has an optimum time to reach the person who is injected”, Hoti noted.
