In the four years of Albin Kurti's governance, a large number of promises related to the economy sector have remained unfulfilled. Development Bank creation, the extinction of the Kosovar Privatisation Agency (AKP), and the one with affordable housing for 4 thousand families, are some that do not come true other than the Law on Sovereign Fund, which is in the Constitutional Court.
Despite power praise that there has been economic progress on this mandate, by opinion and economic connoisseurs, say the government has failed to develop the economy sector.
In the full presentation of the governing programme (2021-2025), Prime Minister Albin Kurti stressed at a parliamentary session to receive the governing mandate that your “program before you is the reflection of promises not only of the electoral campaign but also of future commitments,”, adding that they will also shut down the Kosovar Privatisation Agency, but those promises that were not made.
As far as the opposition says the government has failed to realise capital investments and important projects.
MP from the Democratic Party of Kosovo Ferat Shala criticises the government, stressing that during this mandate the government has failed to realise capital investments and important projects. He adds that public companies like Trepca and KEK have continued to have poor performance, and that efforts to close The AKP has not had any concrete results. On the other hand, MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti mentions some of the promises made by the current government but, according to him, have not been realised.
And it says that the same has failed to manage public enterprises.
“The Development Bank and the Sovereign Fund, even when we've been discussed we have our dilemmas. None of these two have even begun to come true, because it has come to have at least not developed as a concept of how it will work, because we have market economies and we have to take into account the functioning of the economy in terms of an open market and it is difficult to introduce concepts that are not compatible with this approach, with these principles of open economics. It is even the problem with the Privatisation Agency, which has been promised to close as the agency, while no action has taken place. Then there are public companies where past governments are criticised for having made financial bloodshed by helping public companies, performance of these companies nearly one or two can have a specific improvement in all others has exacerbated the situation”, says Hoti.
On the other hand, expert economic issues criticise Kurti Government for not developing the country. While, even economic connoisseur Mustafe Kadrijaj says this government has failed to address the needs of economic development and capital investments.
Meanwhile, even the other economic connoisseur, Blendie Hasay, says this government has been identified with what it has behind a more special emphasis on these social schemes.
“This government has been identified with what has been followed by a more special emphasis on these social schemes, separately with some schemes that have seen the increase in support for women, this relates both their and ideological orientation, but also as parties that are slightly left-left and normally we think it should be a” network, says Hasaj.
While Minister of Industry, Intervention and Trade Roseta Hajdari has talked about reaching this Government. It has cited economic growth and trade reports for export and import.
“During this governing mandate as the main growth in the Republic of Kosovo is seen economic growth, as well as demographic indicators that have been shown markedly on the rise during this governing mandate. Average growth 6 per cent during this governing mandate, we have double export and improved trade balance from the export-import report from one to nine to six. We have double foreign direct investment during this mandate of”, Hajdari said.
The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, took office on March 23rd of 2021. While the general parliamentary elections in Kosovo will be held on February 9th 2025.
