European Union Special Envoy Miroslav Lajcak's “mandate remains in force until the end of January. The process of selecting his successor is currently under way and we will provide timely updates”, said the EU's response to TIME.
On Friday (January 3rd) has expired the deadline for the presentation of candidates from whom the high representative for foreign policy and security, Kaya Kallas, will choose whom he will appoint as EU special representative for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Among the names most continue to be mentioned are former Finland Minister Pekka Havisto, and diplomat from Denmark Peter Sorensen. Both have experience from the Western Balkan region.
