Electricity Price Lowered in Albania

All family members who consume up to 700 kw/h will pay 1 lek less by 31 December 2025. The decision adopted by the Energy Regulatory Administration Board begins implementation from February 1st 2025. Prime Minister Edi Rama, together with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Belinda Balluk, held a joint conference to share more details about the decision.
Rama said we are three years away from energy sovereignty, while stressing that transformation will continue.
Thanks to our policy in the field of energy, thanks to the complexities that we've taken even with the tightening of a torn space we found, when half didn't pay but stole energy. Thanks to the initiative, it is not the first in the region to produce solar energy, but at a distance from the second. In second place is Serbia, with a score of 1,084 of Albania's production, as Kosovo, Montenegro and Northern Macedonia are in the same group.
At the height of the crisis, the war in Ukraine. The second, Albania 10% of its production is due to the sun. When we entered this stage, it had zero. We're talking about over 300 megawatts today. More important than that, today in the expected investment channel, we have 1300 megawatts of solar power, 1.3 gigas. In total, we will reach the target of 30% of total energy production from other sources besides water”.
Why is this important?
With the theory that we have energy for ourselves and others. In the good hydric years, we cover 75, % needs. So we're not sovereign yet. But we're three years away from power sovereignty. 30% of the total volume we need, plus recycling, will make us sovereign. In poor hydric years we have 65% production capacity. We are dependent on import, crisis and stock exchange.
It took years, but we did it, and let's tell you in the eyes of those who spend up to 700. KW will have a power cut. In 2019. The highest consumption of the year was 21 million kilowatts. But on New Year's Eve, 2019 was the highest consumption. Today 22 million kilowatts per hour is normal.
The drink is no longer for the new year, but it is also during the summer and the December-January period. Albania is another country, because increased energy consumption shows growth of the economy capacity growth in all layers for energy consumption. This too is a fact that helps us to take this step, to decrease, since we have more consumption and income. Electricity prices have been higher than today's price. Albanians grab heads in canal co-operation, mud portals”, Rama said.
