At least 10 people have died and another 30 have been injured due to a truck crash in the crowd on New Orleans's Bourbon Street on Wednesday, authorities have indicated.
The attack has occurred in a very popular area for tourists.
Chief Inspector Anne Kirkpatrick said the incident started at about 3:00 a.m. local time and that the attacker has driven the truck to Bourbon Street at great speed.
Kirkpatrick said that the man's been spreading <x0... intentional behaviour” and tried to hit as many people.
It has warned that the number of victims could change.
She has said the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will take over investigations into the incident.
FBI Special Agent Althe Duncan has said that the incident “is not terrorist”.
According to her, in the attack scene, “improvised explosive equipment” has ordered the public to stay away from the area.
The causes of the incident are still unknown.
